Jessica, we would love to learn more about what inspired you to create your spice range, Love My Earth?
Growing up on an organic health retreat, I developed the taste for enjoying and eating everything from my own backyard. Through some challenging health times and losing my father to Cancer I discovered I wanted to help more people to become healthy and happy and encourage people to lead more of an organic and balanced lifestyle. I started travelling to India to help some farming communities and through these experiences, Love My Earth was born.
Why should we try to use spices more frequently in our diets?
Spices are a great way to get flavour in your meals without adding SALT and SUGAR. They are also full of vitamins and minerals. I try to keep up my intake of spices all year round, as the health benefits keep me feeling good from the inside out and my meals full of flavour.
Spices are our medicine, I use spices every day in my cooking. The health benefits are phenomenal!
Which is your favourite spice and why?
Cinnamon is one of my favourite spices and I use it in a lot of my mixes. It is great because it is not only great for your health but it tastes amazing and can be used in sweet or savoury dishes.
What would be your top 10 ways to keep spices in your diet all year round?
Besides curry and dahls, spices can be used in so many other ways.
Here are my top 10 tips for using spices in the kitchen all year round.
1. Add a teaspoon to your rice before cooking -Adds great flavour and colour.
2. Sprinkle curry powder in ghee or oil and drizzle over stir fried vegetables.
3. Roast nuts and seeds in a sprinkle of curry powder.
4. Use in soups -Pumpkin and carrot is my favourite.
5. Use in dips to add flavour -Hummus, roast carrot or beetroot.
6. Use to flavour homemade popcorn.
7. Use it in mexican to spice up your beans.
8. Use in lasagne to add flavour -I add it to my bechamel sauce or the meat sauce.
9. Add to savory bread mixtures or muffins to add flavour.
10. Use in potatoe salad, rice salad, roast vegetable salads and cous cous salads.

You were recently abroad in India, are you working on anything exciting?
I had the most amazing trip in India, working on new packaging and 3 new exciting Dahl mixes that will be launched later in the year!!
What is next for Love My Earth?
It’s an exciting time here at LME, our customer base is growing and we are now in selected IGA, Foodlands and independent organic retailers across Australia. The next 6 months are jam packed full of exciting new products, packaging and great new recipes on how you can use spices all year round.
Do you have a favourite recipe to share with us?
Baked Spiced Pumpkin.
This is a perfect accompaniment for any dish, the butter chicken mix adds a little spice to your usual baked pumpkin. Serve it with a Sunday roast or on its own with some cashew cheese.
Baked Spiced Pumpkin-
500g of pumpkin slices skin on
1 teaspoon of Love My Earth Organic Butter Chicken mix
Large lashing of olive oil
1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
Preheat oven to 180 degrees
Lay pumpkin slices on a baking tray and add oil and spices
Mix thoroughly coating the pumpkin
Place in the oven
Roast until golden and delicious
Serve with a side of cashew cheese
